Day# 07

A picture of something that has had the biggest impact on you.

Falling in love.

Not the person, not the time, not who I was and who I became… But that feeling. Falling in love. It’s the most incredible feeling in the world, something that creeps into the deepest hidden corner of you, and changes everything about you. The happiness and the tears, the coming together and the breaking up, the memories and the nightmares. Everything that the 18 year old me experienced when she fell in love with the first guy who made her feel ok to be herself. Everything that a 21 year old me went through when she had her heart broken. Everything, not a thing less not a thing more. Everything learnt, everything felt. Falling in love.

* * * * *
Music.

Nothing has more power to move me than music.
Zana, my love for you will never die.

* * * * *
Mumbai.
My home, the place I grew up in. The reason why I met those people, had those experiences, saw and felt those things that impacted me the most. My city, the most beautiful home in the world. Everything that makes this city dear to me –

The sea..

The beautiful monsoon that takes my breath away every single time...

The trainrides...

All the countless little things that breathe life into this city of dreams..

* * * * *
Magic.

I live in a dreamland. I believe in Santa Claus and Godmother Fairies. I know there is a magical expanse of an endless universe out there, waiting to be discovered and explored. If I didn’t have this outlook in life, then frankly my life wouldn't be half as amazing as it is now. And so, the reason why I believe in magic in the first place – The Folk Of The Faraway Tree, Harry Potter, Bartimaeus trilogy, Inheritance trilogy, The Chronicles of Narnia... and last but definitely not the least...

The Lord Of The Rings.

I guess this was weirdly answered, but totally honest :)

P.S: All pics by moi :D :) Except for the first one - that was taken by Ro.

Day# 06

Favorite superhero and why?

AHA! Superheros! I am totally an action/fantasy person and I could actually make a big long list out of this question but I'll just go with my top 5 :D

Batman
I have secretly(?) loved Batman forever. I had all of his tazo’s (anyone remember those little disc thingies that Ruffles (Lays) carried free with them?) I loved the fact that he ditched the oh-so-clichéd blues and the reds (obvious reference to Supers and Spiders) and went with the clichéd yet droolworthy sexy black :D I think it has to do with the fact that Bruce Wayne is this millionaire playboy, who pretends to be very snotty … and who is well.. a superhero! "Unlike most superheroes, he does not possess any superpowers; he makes use of intellect, detective skills, science and technology, wealth, physical prowess, martial arts skills, an indomitable will and intimidation in his continuous war on crime."

And Batmobile over the up-and-away-in-the-clouds mode of transportation please. Very awesome superhero-ish don't you think? :)

Christian Bale. *drool* :D
Wolverine:
Marvel Comics superhero, James Howlett but commonly known as Logan - Wolverine is a mutant, possessing animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, three retracting bone claws on each hand and a healing factor that allows him to recover from virtually any wound, disease or toxin at an accelerated rate. The healing factor also slows down his aging process, enabling him to live beyond a normal human lifespan. Brooding guy with a smoldering gaze and retractable claws. SAXIE :D

 Hugh Jackman. Yummy. :D

Johnny Storm:
The Human Torch, better known as Jonathan Lowell Spencer "Johnny" Storm - the hot-headed, brash and the youngest of the Fantastic Four group :)

Chris Evans. Oh. La. La. :D

(As we may observe, I have excellent taste in good looking superheroes ;) :D

It's not always the girl who needs a superhero to rescue her from the bad guys. Some girls just beat them up on their own!! Like my next two...

Buttercup
Out of the "Sugar, spice and everything nice", my favorite has always been the "Spice." :)
Tomboyish, sassy, quick-witted, one tough fighter, sometimes surly, sometimes selfish, fearless, loyal, protective of her loved ones and frequently sarcastic.

Now thats one heck of a superheroine right?! :)

CatWoman
Selena Kyle, was originally a flight stewardess who had amnesia and was one of Bruce Wayne's girlfriends. An incident in her life puts her face to face with her dark past and reveals to her, what her identity was before she lost her memory. She realizes what her strengths from the feline powers are and makes her entrance as Cat Woman. She is a ferocious fighter and has all the possible cat instincts which she uses for her revenge.

~Annie.
P.S: Somewhere in the middle of writing this post, I started making a list of favorite movie characters :D I have this thing for making lists..... :)

Day# 05

A picture of somewhere you’ve been to.

I love to travel, but strangely I don’t get the chance often. Especially with family, there have been very few outings. With friends, a gazillion of them. Most of the outings were with the Wizards. For this question, I pick the farthest north I have ever been with the Wizards – Shimla/ Manali. It was the BEST trip of my life, nothing can ever beat the fun we had in that week from 5th Dec 2007 to 12th Dec 2007... The Jab We Met-themed trip, the songs always taking me back to those wonderful 7 days...

This picture was taken by me at Kufri, and I can still feel how quiet and cold it was there. It was quiet enough to listen to the rhythm of your own heartbeat, that sound of silence. While returning back to the bus from this place, we got a little late, and it got really dark. Apart from the skylight there was no other source of light for miles around. It was creepy and awesome at the same time. I will always remember how the night sky looked then, so alluring and mysterious.. :)

~Annie.
P.S: I would give up anything just to go back and relive that week once more, exactly the way it was..

Day# 04

A habit that you wish you didn't have?

Tough one! :)

I dont really have *habits* that I wish I didnt have, they are more like unconscious things I do, that I wish I didn't. I have no idea why I do it, and try hard as I may, I cant seem to change it one bit.

One is getting attached to people too soon. More often than not, I end up getting hurt. I do move on from that too, eventually, but the fact remains that no one ever has to try too hard to make themselves my best friend. Sometimes it makes me wish, even I was the hard-to-please/gain-trust kinds... :)

Also, I wish my anger was a bit more controlled than it currently is. I have a seriously fiery temper, and the dumbest part is that getting realllyyy angry makes me realllyyy weepy! I mean wtf! :| On the other hand, I cant control my wide grin when I am happy. It ruins the whole pretending-its-nothing-but-being-really-happy-inside look that EVERYONE around me has perfected. I wish I was more controlled in revealing my emotions - most people can read me like a sunday morning comic strip. Sigh.

Then there are harmless, supremely irritating habits, that others wish I didn’t have, but for me it’s too much fun :D

For example, I have this habit of starting to say something and then trailing off with a 'accha nevermind…'. I swear I don’t plan it, but yes I do enjoy the exasperation, when I realise I did it again :D

Next, there is this thing of talking to cats and dogs and babies in a language only they and I understand, my friends say its really embarrassing for them! :D

I also have this habit of being stuck on a particular song for AGES. I mean, I pick the craziest song, and it plays on a loop for people around me to hear, sometimes with nasal twangs :D I dont do it on purpose, but you know how singing songs can get addictive! I once went for MONTHS with 'tum toh thehre pardesi, saath kya nibhaoge' :| I even alter the tunes to suit the mood! Yes, I'm a total cartoon! :D

Ya, that's about it. :)

~Annie.
P.S: I think I'm back to singing Altaf Raja songs now :| ...
...pehle toh kabhi kabhi gham thaaa... :D

Day# 03

A picture of you and your friends.

There is no one picture in existence that has all my friends and me in the same frame. Out of almost 50GB+ of pictures with my friends, spanning over 4 years and beyond, with a class of 50, and a gazillion trips to various places ranging from the nearby Health Juice Centre at Matunga to all the way breathtaking mountains of Shimla/Manali, from the beaches of Goa to the lake of Bhandardara, from little irreplaceable moments in class and quad and canteen captured on cell phone cameras to the wonderful memories made at birthdays and engagements and weddings… We have some pretty amazing moments captured on cameras. Out of them all, this pic is one of the initial pictures that started the frenzy among the class who LOVES to pose. This was taken at our 2nd year traditional day celebration in college, and it remains as the standard pic we refer to as our beloved “VJ Wizards” picture. :)

We are Wizards for Life :)

P.S: This HAS to be the shortest post on my blog :D

31 Day Challenge - Day# 01

I haven't done tags in a long time, infact let me rephrase, I haven't written anything worth putting on the blog in a really long time, tags included. So I am taking up this 31-day challenge, which is a question a day for the entire month. Found it on Ananya's blog, and seems like a fun challenge. So here goes for Day #1

A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself.

Ok, I think I have revealed pretty much everything about myself on the blog, in countless other “random” posts in the past. But I will still try, and these are more random than interesting, so here goes:
  1. I am a hopeless romantic that DOESN’T believe in the concept of "the one".
  2. As much as I love Mumbai, staying in NYC is one of my dreams. I hope it comes true soon :)
  3. I always call my city Mumbai, somehow 'Bombay' never appealed as much.
  4. I do not want to be cremated.
  5. I have impossible amount of best friends, but none who know me as well as I know them.
  6. The longest I have had a crush on someone has actually been longer than I have been in any relationship. 4 long bittersweet years, and the guy didn’t even know I existed! How sad could I have been! :D
  7. It’s extremely easy for me to initiate conversation with anyone :)
  8. I believe in ghosts / spirits / paranormal activity.
  9. I was three years old when I danced on stage for the first time.
  10. I can watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s & Casablanca ANY number of times.
  11. I wrote my first poem when I was in the sixth standard.
  12. I am ambidextrous.
  13. Some songs can make me cry, with just simply nostalgia.
  14. The ONLY thing that successfully 100% works on me when I’m depressed is Lord of the Rings movie marathon. \m/ 'Forth Eorlingas... DEATHHHH!!!!!' Im a hardcore Ringer :)
  15. I have always dated men who were more than 6 feet tall :D which is funny considering I'm REALLY short :D :D

And now, a recent pic of me. This one isn't actually 'recent' - it was taken at my sisters wedding. I was fretting over the amount of make up on me, and Nutties suddenly went 'Your eyes are awesome, I have to take a pic!' (which is as much as a compliment I have EVER got from him, so LOL) :D

See you tomorrow peeps!

~Annie.
P.S: JUST in time eh? :D ;)

Birthday Updates & The Year That Went By.

[This was supposed to be posted yesterday evenin' but impromptu plans for a long drive spoiled it :D]

This birthday was the awesomest ever! Usually what is celebrated as a Birthday week (5th-12th of Dec) got extended for the whole month… making me feel pretty great!!! :) Without further ado, here’s the birthday wishlist that was fulfilled in the my super awesome birthday month (in order of appearance):

15 Greatest Guitar Riffs Of All Time

.. in no particular order.

[Disclaimer: You may not agree with me here, and you are most welcome to add to the list, but there is no way you may diss any of these riffs in any way. Doing so will result in me losing all respect for you.]

Smoke on the water - Deep Purple (1973)
One of the most famous riffs in hard rock history, played on a Fender Stratocaster electric guitar by Ritchie Blackmore, immediately joined by hi-hat and drums and electric bass parts before the start of Ian Gillan’s vocal.

Pour some sugar on me - Def Leppard (1987)
Although the band was nearing the end of recording sessions for Hysteria in 1986, producer Mutt Lange felt that the album was still lacking a song that would have an appeal beyond the hard rock fans who had bought Pyromania; that song came to him during a 5 minute coffee break. Now often regarded as the band's signature song.

Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses (1987)
This song is credited as being written by Guns N’ Roses as a band - more specifically it contains Slash’s riff, Izzy’s chords, Axl’s lyrics, and McKagan’s bass line. The subject of the song is generally thought to be lead singer Axl Rose’s then-girlfriend and eventual wife, Erin Everly. Supposedly Slash played the riff in a jam session as a joke. Drummer Steven Adler and Slash were warming up and Slash began to play a “circus” melody while making faces at Steven. Adler asked him to play the riff again, and Izzy Stradlin came in with the chords. Axl became intrigued and started singing the poem he had written.

Birthday Wishlist v2

I'll be turning 23 (Oh. My. God. I am old.) 5 days from now, and like last year, here is my Birthday Wishlist. The items on this list are what I absolutely desire / totally deserve / or would kill to have. Please note these items are in no specific order and I desire them all equally. The lack of usual "Annie Items" (read: shoes, shoes and well ... more shoes) means that I already have shoes that are spilling over my closet. I mean now that's a dream eh ladies? ;) Oh Lucky Me :D Anyway, moving on, here is my wishlist...

(Just remember, I'm not much of a demanding person, and I'm very easy to please :D)
